This Year I Will 2

January 2015: This Year I Will

What is your New Year’s Resolution? Is it to get into shape? Join the movement! Come to the Y and join in on our “This Year I Will” campaign!

1) Joining Deal:  Join the YMCA with no join fee for the first half (1st – 15th) of January, and half price join fee for the second half of January!

We want to make it affordable for you to come to the Y! January 1st – 15th is no joining fee! January 16th – 31st is a half price joining fee. Remember that regular monthly membership rates still apply.

2) Goal Setting:  Make a personal healthy living goal for the month of January, trackable by weeks!

Stop by the Y front desk to get your own goal sheet! Goals can be for any healthy lifestyle change: workouts, taking new classes, drinking water, eating healthier, Fitbit or Jawbone step goals, etc. This is your time to reflect on a new habit you want to incorporate into your daily routine. These goals should be trackable by weeks. At the end of the week, you will check off the first week box on your goal sheet if you achieved your goals. Our hope is that these goals will not stop at the end of January, but will actually continue throughout the year.

3) Social Media:  Take the Instagram Hashtag Challenge! Post a pic at the Y, follow and tag us (@ymca_albany), and hashtag #ThisYearIWill! The winner with the most posts takes home a prize!

This is new! We want more people to know we are on social media, and we want you to participate! Throughout the month of January, we will be asking you to post a picture to your Instagram page every day that you come to the Y for a workout! Instructions:  follow our YMCA Instagram page, tag us in your post, and hashtag #ThisYearIWill. One post per day. Make sure you have your account set up for us to view hashtags! The person that comes for the most workouts, and shows it by posting the most pics will win a free 3- month membership to the Y!!

Chair Yoga

New Chair Yoga in January!

Introducing Chair Yoga! This new class is designed to use the chair as a support and stabilizer during yoga poses, though you can do all the poses standing up if you so choose! This is the perfect class for all ages and abilities, and will help to improve your physical and mental fitness.

Come join instructor Rowland on Tuesdays and Thursday from 8:00-9:00am for our new early bird yoga time, or on Thursday nights from 7:00-8:00pm, starting on Tuesday, January 6th, 2015.
