The YMCA welcomes youth, families, adults and seniors with an open door, turning no one away for inability to pay.  Our goal is to improve our community’s quality of life by encouraging the following key outcomes:



Improving the community’s health and well being


Nurturing the potential of every child and teen


Giving back and providing support to our neighbors


Providing opportunities that encourage and promote family unity


To provide direct financial assistance to those in need through reduced rate memberships and program fees.



  • $500 Sponsors a child for 10 weeks of Summer Day Camp or an at risk youth in the Y-Mentoring Program.
  • $250 sponsors a youth membership for one year.
  • $100 Provides a child a year of swim lessons or four children for one session
  • $50 supports two youth participating in a youth sports season.
  • Help us open doors to those in need by opening your heart!





While the current economic climate remains uncertain, the YMCA remains committed to the successful completion of its capital campaign to build a new 61,000 square foot facility at its current site at 3311 Pacific Boulevard SW Albany.

The new Mid-Willamette Family YMCA will feature 60-,340 square feet of family fun!  The new Y will feature a family fun indoor water park, six lane lap pool, two full sized gymnasiums, two group exercise studios, a spacious strength and cardio training center,  a youth center, racquetball courts, locker rooms, meeting rooms and more!  The new Y will be nearly 2 ½ times the size of the current facility which has served the greater Albany community since 1960.

To make this new venture possible, a capital development campaign, “Building Albany Together”, was launched in 2002 under the leadership of General Chairman Jim Richards, the Y’s Capital Campaign Cabinet and its Board of Directors.   The Y has been the recipient of generous capital gifts from individuals and businesses throughout the Albany area over the years, as well as the beneficiary of gifts and/or acquisition of adjacent property to expand its campus to its current 10.3 acres.  Construction of the New Y began in July of 2012.  Project Manager for the new Y project is Darrell Fisher, Fisher Construction Services; Project Architect is Don Johnson, DJ Architecture and General Contractor is Tom Gerding, T. Gerding Construction.

The YMCA is an enduring community asset that has lasted in this world where so much comes and goes so quickly.  It is stable, values based, professionally managed, in touch with public sentiment and capable of meeting the changing conditions and needs of the future.  The YMCA is a gift that we have received and it is a gift that we should give to future generations to perpetuate values that really matter – values like caring, honesty, respect, responsibility and faith.

May friends of the YMCA are helping to extend its influence beyond their own lifetimes with gifts of a part of the assets they have accumulated to the YMCA’s Endowment Fund.  Originally formed in 1992, the Founders Club is an organization of those men and women who are helping perpetuate the YMCA’s influence on future generations of youth and families through their gifts and commitments to the YMCA Endowment Fund.

Individuals and couples have qualified to become members of the Founder’s Club in one or more of the following ways:

  • making an outright gift to the YMCA endowment fund of money, securities, property or other marketable assets;
  • creating a charitable remainder trust, pooled income fund or life estate gift to benefit the YMCA Endowment Fund;
  • naming the YMCA Endowment Fund as a beneficiary of a new or existing life insurance policy;
  • naming the YMCA Endowment Fund to receive a bequest in a will or living trust.

Gifts and commitments may be directed to benefit the overall work of the YMCA, or can be designated to support a particular YMCA program.  It is the commitment, rather than the amount, that is the overriding factor in qualifying for membership in the Founder’s Club.

These special friends of the YMCA gather once each year to renew old friendships, once again receive the heartfelt thanks of the Association for their farsighted and concerned generosity and to hear first-hand how current endowment funds are being used to further the work of the YMCA.



The nation’s tax laws provide incentives that encourage philanthropy, in recognition of the singular role charitable organizations (including the YMCA) play in meeting important needs in our society.  Depending of the specific arrangement, you can expect some or all of the following benefits of a well designed gift to the YMCA’s Endowment Fund:

  • income tax savings through the charitable deduction for the value of the gift;
  • avoidance of the capital gains tax on contributions of certain kinds of property that have increased in value over time;
  • income for life, for a donor and/or other beneficiaries;
  • the possibility of increased spendable income with certain arrangements;
  • elimination of federal estate tax on the value of a gift passing to the YMCA upon the donor’s death;
  • reduced estate settlement costs.


When the YMCA is aware of your financial as well and philanthropic objectives, we can help formulate a plan that takes full advantage of the available tax benefits, while at the same time fulfilling your desire to benefit future generations of children and families through the YMCA.
