Swimming Lessons

LEARN TO SWIM, SAVE A LIFE
The YMCA is the nation’s leading swim instructor, teaching people how to swim for over 100 years. We believe swimming is an essential life skill that children should have the opportunity to learn early. Research shows that formal swimming lessons can reduce the risk of drowning by 88% among children ages 1–4. Studies also highlight additional benefits, including improved motor skills, cognitive development, strength, self-esteem, and social confidence.
With nationally certified, highly trained instructors, our lessons focus on essential life-saving skills and techniques while promoting swimming as a valuable tool for lifelong wellness.

ADVANCED STROKES (Pre-Swim Team)
Advanced Intermediate swimmers will improve stroke technique and learn elementary backstroke, sidestroke, and butterfly kick. Children will learn to build endurance for longer swim distances.
WHY LEARNING TO SWIM IS SO IMPORTANT
There are many important reasons for your child to learn to swim, but the most crucial is that swimming is the only sport that can save their life.
Drowning remains one of the leading causes of accidental death in children, making swimming an essential life-saving skill. It’s also important to remember that children who seem confident in the water are not always competent swimmers.
